3AM, March 2020 - or is it April already? You are so, so lonely.

A short game for the Single-Choice Jam 2023, ~2000 words

This game is part of the "Pageantverse", a semi-canonical sequel to Pageant and New Year's Eve, 2019, and includes some direct allusions to the latter. Playing those games will probably make this one more enjoyable, but it shouldn't be totally necessary.

This story is as gentle as it is taught. I enjoyed how present the emotion is and how delicately it's handled. The narrative around the choices you can't make adds a lot--and is achingly relatable.

Ouch! That second choice! (You know which one I mean, there’s surely one right choice, and one wrong.)

I love the mix of science and emotion, that reflects so clearly the way everyone’s mind was trying to work during the lockdowns — trying to rationalise your way into or out of your desperate emotional needs.

Oh my god, this rules. The ending is sooooo perfect: it’s what I really want to see in a story about relationships during coronavirus pandemic – no romanticism but a longing already complicated by previous events.

I’m so glad you got this game out!
