I really love this game and hope it gets really popular, but one thing I think should get implemented is the ability to see the coalition’s opinion of the SPD, so the player can better takle stuff without getting hit with a no confidence vote out of the blue. I don’t know if it’s already in the game and if it is it would help if it’s more easily found. Thank you

(+1)

You can see your relations with all the parties in the library. If you want to avoid getting no-confidence voted you should try using one of the advisors that has the ability to improve relations with the coalition parties, it, unlike the card for improving relations which only does so for 1 party, improves relations with all the parties in your coalition. Having better relations with the coalition parties also means you can go for the compromise options when crises happen, and thus take less of a popularity hit if you want to maintain the coalition.

(+1)

oh ok thank you

My best unexpected result in normal mode is that WTB plan is adopted successfully and low unemployment  around 9.600001%,  SPD is also in goverment. I believe there is better result.  To Improve the loyalty of interior ministry and investigate the right two times is a useful way to eliminate the Hilter.  Also, Judicial reform is helpful.  This game is indeed interesting.

(+1)

Anyone know how to get the Progressive Coalition?

(+1)

On easy I accidentally got it after the first election. You just need SPD + DDP + KPD to be 50% (or above 50% I have not tested this) but you don't actually have to be in coalition with them, as long as you are in government. On normal I suspect you need to get the Weimar coalition then investigate corruption or pass land reform or something ASAP, get an election and win that, then go into coalition with DDP and Z again.

(1 edit)

Bug: It seems like you cant do agricultural policies if you get a majority with SPD.

Small complaint regarding agricultural policies, I think doing the land reform costs too much, at least if it is intended that you should do it three times.

(+1)

Bug should be fixed now. I’m still thinking about the costs/balancing of various actions…

Bug: There seems to be a bug which makes you able to implement the economic plan several times more than you should (you can even get negative unemployment using this).

Question: Will there be more left wing possibilities for leadership (both presidential and the chanselor)?

Should not be able to get negative unemployment anymore.

There probably won’t be more left-wing chancellors (besides Breitscheid), and Braun is the only real SPD president option. But there might be more left-wing policies.

(1 edit) (+1)

Since the WBT-plan can be implemented at 8.60...01 you may still be able to get negative unemployment by cutting taxes (though I think you have to cheat for this).

Sad to hear, but understandable. And I am really happy for the future nationalization plans, hope they are effective but a hell to pass!

Do you think it would be possible to remove Braun from Prussia if he becomes president (and/or Chanselor)? I think there were both leftists and centrists that could have taken his place (or at least had been Minster-President before).

No promises; the internals of the Prussian state government aren’t currently simulated and I don’t know if they will ever be.

On the Labor card, you left up "// TODO: separate labor affairs and labor policy into two cards - implement Economic Democracy".

Should be fixed now.

after a govt falls, the elections are unavailable until 1932, is this a glitch

Should be fixed now.

Love the Game. I would genuinely buy this if it was released as a full game! I have a few suggestions to slightly improve it

1) Make it easier to call an election. It is unnecessarily difficult to call an election. Firstly, you can only call an election as an advisor action, which means that you have to choose between an action and calling an election. Calling an election shouldn't take up an advisor action. Secondly, it means that you can't call an election for 6 months if you use an advisor action. Thirdly, you should be able to call an election even if you're not Chancellor. You should be able to call for a vote of no confidence. The other parties can call a vote no confidence, so why can't we? This is also the case when the SPD is supporting a minority government

2) The different factions of the SPD should struggle for more influence. Their only response to you angering them is to get their advisors to step down from government, but you can easily re-add them. They should threaten to step down permanently, demand roles in government, join other parties, etc

3) The government deck should avoid repetition. In particular, the social welfare and feminism cards come up several times a year, even if you give them full funding. There doesn't seem like there is much you can do after that point. Perhaps make it so that those cards can only come up once a year if they have been funded. Or you could make it that there are more options on those cards, so you can direct the funds that you have previously given them

4) Some actions seem to only have one use. For example, investigating the far right is useful in dealing with the central bank. However, once that is done there doesn't seem to be an effect. Perhaps making is so that their paramilitary wing gets weaker every time you do it after the first time or something like that?

5) Adding more cards in the government and party decks. Especially if you are in opposition or supporting a minority government, as that can get repetitive

6) Make it slightly less RNG based, as it would feel good to have it more skill based. However, the difficulty is great, it shouldn't be made easier

7) Allow it to go on for a few more years. It's nice to see some of the impacts you have and see your civil war/government/election/etc come to it's conclusion

8) It would be great to have more information on the end screen. It's nice to see some of the impacts you have

9) There should be more routes. Currently it's best to just go for the labour faction and get the WTB. The other factions should have their own plans to deal with the economy/military/opposition/reform the government/etc. Obviously some will be better than others, but it would be nice to have alternatives. For example, if the leftist faction is powerful they should have an easier time forming a United Opposition with the KPD and the radical changes that would involve

(+1)

Autumn confirmed in a update log that while you'll play in 1933 for a little longer, Autumn won't expand further away from 1933.

(+1)

I got my best end so far (got rid of Hitler, "fixed" unempolyment and legalized abortion by having an election in February 1932, and THEN got Thälmann elected). Though it was done on easy.

Deporting Hitler is not an option that comes up. After using the internal ministry on the far right three times, you can keep repeating the action with no change in text or anything.

you only need to investigate the far right twice, not thrice

(+3)

Deporting Hitler:

- Pick the Interior Ministry card and Improve interior loyalty 1x and investigate far right 2x

- Nazi Alarm needs to be above (or at??) 3, for this to happen Nazis need to be gaining in elections (above 10) and for the SPD to support NeoRevisionists and focusing on the Nazis in game events.

- The SPD still needs to control the Prussian government

- Justice either needs a big (-1 budget) reform or two minor judicial reforms

- If all above has been done successfully then the option to Deport Hitler should be available in the next Interior Ministry card

- The Reichsbanner needs to be at a high enough militarisation/size to succeed in deporting Hitler. I recommend banning the SA right before deporting Hitler if possible

That's the guide on the reddit

Can't tell you how much I love the game and how fun it's been. I hope you do more with it and good luck with any new projects you might work on! I do have some comments about the current state of the game.

I have found a bit of an oversight if the coalition blows up too close to the next election the election will be pushed back. Surely the election should just happen as scheduled with no more government cards to play. On a similar note I probably shouldn't get the Shuffle Cabinet card if SPD is in the majority. Minor nitpick, but the dozen or so zeros that show up after implementing the WBT plan is unsightly.

From a gameplay perspective it seems backwards that legalizing abortion is only available after wining a majority in the Reichstag. I suppose it is a fun bonus after you "beat" the game, but it seems like it could more interesting to add some mechanic to get it passed that would help you with women as a distinct demographic, although unlocking it would obviously have to be punishing. Additionally, I consistently don't get the Women's Rights card after the election. Its possibly just luck, but with the small window of opportunity it should be prioritized if it's to be the "prize" for winning.

I totally get why you don't want to push past 1933, but it would be nice to play to 1933 in the event of a Total Victory Civil War, maybe similar to the Braun emergency government. Also, It would be nice to have a log of all our actions in the Library so I can check which ones I've taken. I'd also rock to have achievements, but I might be asking to much at this point.

I'd totally pay like $5-$20 on steam for this game if it meant it could get regular updates like the stuff I suggested, but that's just me.

Edit: Took out the part about deporting Hitler.

(+1)

Same! I also think this type of game would fit nicely with other periods like the cultural revolution or smth similar

(-1)

couple extra comments:

- Don't like the Nazi alarm thing for deporting Hitler. If I find he's doing crimes and he isn't a German national then I should be able to deport him.

- Easy mode shouldn't have the shuffle leadership card pop up even if I can get rid if it by clicking the permanent one.

- Carl Serving having only Prussian Bulwark seem lacking.

- [edit more if I think of any]

Is there some way I can just look at a card in my hand without having to play it? I don't know what some of them do, and sometimes I just want to figure it out, rather than being forced to then make an often-critical decision I'm not sure of the implications of.

I'd just save , look at the card, then load the save. I know its considered scummy, but if you're just using it to remember what the card does then I don't see the problem.

(+1)

Here's my best run of the game so far:

How did you do? I can't pass it, even the easy mode.

I've been having a possible bug where the options to ban the SA & deport Hitler wont show up until after the 32' election. Was this run before the last update?

(+2)

Its probably not a bug but to do with Nazi alarm/having the Prussian Government still. If it only appears after 32 it might be because you're doing a bit too well and nobody is alarmed by the Nazis

Ahh, that clears it up. I was trying to do a regime-maxxing run where I get a majority with President-Chancellor-President-Minister Braun and I ban all paramilitaries, deport Hitler, and legalize abortion.

(+2)

Everything in the Braun regime, nothing outside the Braun regime, nothing against the Braun regime

Bollwerk Braun they call him.

Ms. Chen calif state democratic socialists america would like to review this game for its statewide newsletter and post the link. Pls contact marienthal@hotmail.com

(+1)

Sure, you can review the game and post the link in a newsletter if you want.

(-3)

You can write newsletters but cannot spell the name of your own state? You should learn to spell California properly first of all.

(1 edit) (+2)

Very rewarding to finally get an SPD majority on hard! You can actually get the Weimar coalition before September 1929 and it allows you to sidestep the right's vote of no confidence (well, most of the time anyway). Then all you have to do is implement the WTB and you're good to go.

Weimar coalition is literally playing on easy mode compared to the grand coalition. I'm so glad I realized it was possible.

How, I can’t seem to have good enough relations with the centre to form the Weimar Coalition. and getting a high vote early on is pretty difficult

I can never get it either

Its basically just luck of the cards for the 1928 election. I found some combination of funding radio, organizing women with Juchacz, choosing all extremist parties as your enemies, champagning with urban workers, and rally on various issues can get you up to the 34% that you need to get the Weimar coalition.

(+1)

As for 1932, if Zentrum wont coalition with you then having Otto Braun as an advisor can help. He has "Negotiating with the Coalition" which improves relations with them. It also helps not to try to associate with the KPD, though you can do both. Obviously there is the Inter-Party Relationships card, but that's more useful for the KPD than anything else. I usually don't have much of a problem with them even when I'm passing hella welfare and raising taxes out the wazoo.

(+1)

I've tried doing this several times, but haven't gotten it, not sure if the order I did it was wrong or something.

That being said I keep on getting 33%, so my trick is to just make Müller chancellor, call a snap election as soon as I form a Grand Coalition, after which I campaign 2-3 times, then I can form the Weimar Coalition.

(+1)

I've worked out how to do it first try:

Organise women with Juchacz

Political Rally on various issues

2x campaigning with workers (needs some luck)

Fund a radio station

Yeah, that's the only way to do it on hard when you have such limited resources.

how does emergency fundraising work for advisors? very powerful ability but it seems random where it goes

my method is winning the civil war

side with the KPD, paul levi as leader for cooperation with the KPD, foreign ministry for Soviet relations as well as only focusing resources on funding the reichsbanner

forming the iron front and training union members to fight can get the reichsbanner to nearly 3000 members, low militarization

not sure if the reichsbanner can get over medium militarization

(+1)

Just made an account to tell you what a great game this is. I hope you keep working on it and maybe eventually release a paid version on steam or smth! Good luck! I could see this type of game working for manby historical settings btw like you could have one for the cultural revolution or for elections in america before the second ww etc.

It's so difficult for me, even the easy mode . Can anyone give me some trick?

I must stop Hitler come into power

WTB Plan + Urban Worker campaigning are good

I chose one labor advisor as economist to adopt WTB plan, but it seems that it is vain to stop  crazy Hitler.

(+1)

- Go through all the advisors and look at their abilities.

- It helps to pick a specific path and stick to it (Civil War, KPD coalition, WBT plan, ETC).

- Keep track of the time and make sure to use your advisors every six months.

- Be willing to switch your ministers around as they have limited usefulness. (Once you avoid the battlecruiser question by having the Reichswehr ministry you can just switch him out for more leverage. Save Finance & Economic until after Black Thursday.)

- Let the Center party have their chancellor. The ministries are way more important & having that flexibility can help.

- Just explore. Its really the only way to figure out how to get certain outcomes and its alot of fun too!

(+1)

Thank you so much

(1 edit)

Im curious as to why the end date wont expand past 1933 into 1936, i would like this change as in most games you will end the playthrough just hanging on for dear life, and I would be interested in rebuilding democracy after the fact and fixing the politics of the nation.

(+3)

My guess is that its just complicated enough as it is to make the game with the focus on the immediate crisis and hanging on for dear life (which itself is a massive accomplishment and difference compared to real life), and that expanding it to go that far into the future and into all the different ways (depending on how you do things in 1928-1933) to rebuild and strengthen democracy, would just be beyond the scope of what the author wants to do and how much effort to put into it. Remember that with branching choice games, the further you go, the more effort it takes to expand on branching choices, plus with matters of alternate history, the further you go from the starting point, the more you need to rely on mere speculation rather than responding off of concrete real-life historical events and factors

(+1)

Yeah this, basically~

(2 edits) (+3)

my best run so far, but my SPD party still hasn’t have majority votes yet, so is it even possible to get votes above 50% (Majority Votes)?  Also Chancellor Bruning is a bitch to deal with, considering he is the ‘Hunger Chancellor’ with his austerity policies.

(+1)

Yep ! Its possible to get a majority, theirs some majority runs posted on r/RedAutumnSPD

It involves early WTB and spamming out rallies and campaigns. Along with Leipart + Juchacz

(+4)

Bug: If you deport Hitler before the presidential election he still stands in the election.

You should add a button you can click to show your support among various groups (workers, farmers, etc) at the cost of 1 resource. there could be a similar option for relations with other parties

(-1)

it could be on the status menu rather then events

There’s already a “Public Opinion” menu in the Library where you can see this information.

When is the next update

Amazingly fun game! Not sure if this is the appropriate place, but how does one get an SPD majority? I've seen people talk about it, but I've only managed about 43%. I generally target:
- WTB Plan
- Make everything about the WTB (campaigning, Iron Front etc.)
- Deport Hitler
- End reparations

What else should I do? Does the War Guilt Inquiry do anything?

What do you need to do to deport Hitler?

Instructions on how to deport the Austrian artist back to Austria:

Step 1: Take control of the justice ministry and the interior ministry. The SPD is of course still in government.

Step 2: Increase employee loyalty of the Ministry of Internal Affairs once. So that they could achieve success in their efforts to fight the extremists (including Hitler). Then successfully investigated the activities of far-right figures 2 or 3 times. At this point, the option to expel the artist at the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be unlocked.

Step 3: but the option will be locked because the justice department will judge Hitler with bias or pardon. Makes you need to control this ministry to carry out at least 1 (major) judicial reform. Aims to eliminate individuals who support the far right and conservatives in the judicial system.

Step 4: The option will now be open but Hitler will use his SA paramilitary forces to block the interior ministry's deportation attempt. Forcing you to use the police force and Reichsbanner to arrest Hitler.

Step 5: But SA is a collection of many German veterans and is connected to the police force. So you need to do these things for a successful arrest:

+ SA may need to be banned to reduce its legitimacy and links to the police force

+ The Reichsbanner must be militarized. Especially absolutely do not cut spending on the Reichsbanner

+ Must increase the loyalty of the police force at least once. They will now reliably join the Reichsbanner. There is also value in purging the police.

Step 7: If you complete all the steps, you will be successfully arrested and a trial will be held and Hitler will be deported to Austria.

 Note:

 - Banning SA will cause the loyalty of the police force to decline. Makes you need to purge the police force or increase loyalty again

 - Reichsbanner if at "very low". Police officers have their loyalty increased twice. Mandatory ban on SA

 - Reichsbanner if in "Low". Police officer's loyalty has been increased once. Mandatory Ban SA.

 - Reichsbanner if in "medium". The Reichsbanner will crush SA. There is no need to ban SA

 - It's unclear what impact Stahlhelm's ban will have on deportation efforts. But don't let Hindenburg become Chancellor

Thank you! I think you have to ban the SA before the option shows up, I couldn't until I had.

Interestingly, I've never had to ban any of the paramilitaries. Investigating the far right twice and then waiting a bit has been enough to bring out the option to deport him for me. Then it's just a case of whether the Reichsbanner has been sufficiently funded or if the police is sufficiently loyal. But this might only be the case on Easy.

(1 edit)

How do you modify the taxation rate on IOS with the code?

Good history stuff to read on Weimar?

(+1)

dendryUI.dendryEngine.state.qualities.kpd_relation = 100这串代码输入无效

Yeah didn't work for me either!

How do I get the stuff on Schacht so Hilferding doesn't have to resign? I discovered it through "internal security" once, but haven't been able to repeat it since then. What am I doing wrong?

you need to raise loyalty in the interior ministry one time then you can investigate the far right and get the evidence

Awesome game! From what I've played, it's been absolutely mind-blowing experience. Just the idea of a political simulator that manages to (more-or-less) accurately  the political situation in 1930s Germany (unlike, cough-cough, Evil Democracy 1932, cough-cough) is absolutely amazing!

My only problem is with factions within SPD, that don't seem quite accurate at times? Like the "Reformists" (if I recall, those are the ones who follow Eduard Bernstein) proposing a People's Party concept, despite Görlitzer Program (which Bernstein largerly co-authored) recognising class warfare ("Klassenkampf für die Befreiung des Proletariats", in Program's wording).

I wouldn't mind a People's Party wing of the SPD, but it has, by that point, largerly distanced itself from Bernstein who was viewed (on pair with Kautsky) as Party's "Old Man". So maybe omit mentions of Bernstein from Reformists-related actions (if I recall, he's mentioned somewhere in "On Party's Ideology")? I dunno, but, a little historical error doesn't invalidate  all the work you've done in any way!

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll have to check on my sources again. Also that choice is sort of conflating the traditional “reformist” faction (like Otto Braun et al) with the neorevisionists, who were more of the “People’s Party” wing iirc…

(+2)

holy s*i* its the premise of my dissertation!

awesome game, there's a real like of diplomacy style games these days, most of them end up being war simulators without any real politics, this is great cant wait to see what comes next!

(1 edit) (+2)

Agreed. So many of these "Diplomatic" games just end up being map painter 2.0.

We really need more games like this and Suzerain when it comes to political games.

Also this game is nice since I am an IRL Member of the SPD ╰(▔∀▔)╯

I've played well over a dozen games so far and I am still not sure if there is anything we can do for the economy beyond the WTB plan.  I wonder if there is any possible way to get the Young Plan to pass too, for example.

(+1)

The Young Plan did pass. And does pass in this game too. You're confusing it with the referendum which was held to denounce the Young Plan. Which got 14.9% of the voters partaking in it.

In the game, if you have the foreign ministry, you can suspend the reparations. It is guaranteed if you notify the foreign powers that the right wing parties are attempting to remilitarize the German military. The right wing parties hate you for it though.

(+1)

minister-president-chancellor-president otto braun presiding over economic recovery thanks to the WTB plan. now all i really want is to find out how to push the KPD to be willing to join a united left coalition government.

(+1)

You have to reshuffle advisors and get Paul Levi.  His two abilities allow you to push the party left and come to an understanding with kpd.

yeah i managed to get it :) SPD-KPD coalition, with WTB plan fully implemented and reactionary coup defeated, before hindenburg was even up for election. the best ending

I really wish it was possible to play on after winning the civil war.

The best way, that I found, to get KPD to like you, is to man the foreign ministry and improve relations with the USSR, and request that they help improve KPD's relations with you. If you do that twice, KPD will be open to becoming allied with you. THEN, you actually need them to like you. But before that they won't even improve relations if you try.

I arrived in January 1933 by preventing Hitler from becoming chancellor.

I brought down the government the first time and managed to reform the Grand Coalition (the next elections would be held in '34) and since the Nazis only had 15% of the Reichstag they were not considered the majority party and Hindemburg was not made Hitler chancellor.

The game is really good! Only time I managed to "win" so far is when I didn't even get into government during the first elections and managed to get the presidency allowing to have a minority government in the end.

A bug:

Sometimes the Reichsbanner's militarization is: 0.19999999...8%

A bug:

SPD only has 28% in an early election in 1929, and the game only has a grand coalition as available, but the DVP and BVP don't want to coalition. Since it is the only coalition available, the game is not able to progress.

This should be fixed in the latest version.

A bug:

On hard, the right-parties formed a coalition, the game thinks that parliament is suspended and Bruning is using Hindenberg to pass edicts.

The DNVP shouldn’t be able to form a coalition with Z at this point; this should be fixed in the latest version.

What is the historical reason for that? DNVP and Zenstrum not being in coalition.

And what is YOUR favourite way to play Mr. Dev. Any tips/tricks for us?

DNVP were hardline protestants, Zentrum was as a catholic interests party

A bug:

Aufhauser, the labour advisor, his name appears as Leipart.

This should be fixed in the latest version.

I dislike the fact that

A) You cannot form a militarized paramilitary force. The Reichsbanner is an activist organization, not a military one. And cannot turn into a military one. It's training and equipment is always "low".

B) You really cannot change the SPD. As in, it is always a parliamentarian liberal party, well let's call them socialists via contemporary lingo. Why can't I make them "communist"? Or anarchist? Or even proper liberal, a "bourgeoisie" party that gets the support of the "middle-class", the rich, the military, etc.

I wish appointing Labour, or Left into advisory roles, "strengthening" them, actually did something. Internal factions "strength" really does nothing. Neorevivalists or whatever the neo-'s are called, do nothing. Or at least nothing so far. The left is composed of a guy that wants to cozy up to the KPD and a woman that does nothing. The KPD are braindead yes-man of Stalin in the USSR.

The SPD is incapable of engaging in populism. This is my biggest gripe.

Game is too realistic! Allow me to chart my own course please.

(+1)

I would prefer to keep the game at least somewhat within the realm of historical plausibility, so the SPD is not going to change so drastically. But yes, there could be more distinctiveness for the different factions and advisors, and that might be explored in the future.

The Reichsbanner can definitely become more militarized than “low”.

How can I make the Reichsbanner gain maximum militarization?

Id like to know how to make the RB more militarized, I have failed many times!
